Bruno brings with him a wealth of personal achievements and perspectives as he embarks on this new journey. However, his path for 2026 will not see him riding alongside Vingegaard in Italy's prestigious race. Based on his confirmed schedule, Armirail will not join the squad for the Giro d’Italia; instead, his significant interaction with Vingegaard’s Grand Tour aspirations will occur later during the Tour de France.
While Vingegaard pursues the elusive maglia rosa for the first time, Armirail, one of Visma's seasoned newcomers, will be observing from the sidelines.
A Fresh Start at 31
At the age of 31, Armirail steps into Team Visma without the guidance of an agent, managing his transfer independently. This marks a transition into a markedly different team environment. "The language barrier presents some challenges initially," he shared with DirectVelo. "It can be tough to express myself, to be understood, and to grasp what others are saying. But I know it will improve over time."
He has begun taking English lessons and acknowledges the difficulty of learning a new language at this stage in his life. "Mastering a language at 31 is no easy feat. But it’s part of my professional development."
On the cycling front, he has observed shifts in training approaches as well. "The training techniques here might be slightly different. At present, I’m logging fewer hours, but the intensity is greater," he explained, noting that the team focuses more on structured training rather than solely on the number of hours spent riding. "They truly understand what they’re doing here."
With nine Grand Tour appearances already under his belt throughout his career, Armirail’s experience adds considerable value to the team.
A Season Geared Towards July
While Vingegaard’s racing calendar revolves around a Giro-Tour double, Armirail’s schedule tells a contrasting story. His agenda includes events like Paris-Nice, Volta a Catalunya, and Itzulia Basque Country during the spring months, followed by altitude training camps, the Dauphiné, the French time trial championships, and ultimately, the Tour de France. In essence, his competitive focus is firmly set on July.
Consequently, he will not join Visma's meticulously crafted Giro squad, which aims to provide Vingegaard with robust support in the mountains and control over the stages. Although Armirail will encounter Vingegaard at Catalunya, he won’t be there during the Italian Grand Tour.

"When a rider from Visma attacks, there's always a UAE rider on their wheel," he noted, illustrating how closely monitored the competition is. "My aim is to assist my leaders as much as I can throughout the season."
Armiraill has already been informed that he will play a crucial role in team time trials and will serve as a vital cog in the engine room during key races such as the Tour.

Armiraill discusses Vingegaard without any trace of idolization. "To me, he’s just another rider, despite his impressive track record in Grand Tours," he said, acknowledging that encountering Vingegaard in a race setting will feel distinct compared to their interactions during training.
This moment will arrive later in the season. By then, Vingegaard will have completed the Giro, carrying either the strength gained or the fatigue incurred from the Italian race. Armirail's task will involve managing the aftermath of that experience.
