In a heartwarming display of community support, over 200 migrant workers in Taipei received free health screenings, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Tzu Chi International Medical Association and the Taipei City government. This initiative, which has been running since 2004, highlights the unique challenges faced by live-in family caregivers, who often struggle to find time for medical check-ups due to their demanding work schedules. The event, held at Taipei Main Station, offered a range of services, including ultrasounds, dental examinations, and consultations in specialties such as orthopedics and gynecology. The impact of this program is evident in the stories of individuals like Surya Dewi and Istiyani, who have benefited from the screenings and received much-needed medical care. The program's success is further underscored by the high number of visits recorded since its inception, with over 20,000 participants to date. As the year draws to a close, with the final event scheduled for October 4th, the service remains open to all migrant workers legally residing in Taiwan, providing a vital safety net for those who often go unnoticed in the shadows of society.
