The Canadian men's hockey team, packed with highly paid stars, has decided to swap the dorm-style quarters for a top-notch hotel experience. While their American counterparts are embracing the traditional Olympic Village life, the Canadians are going for a more exclusive approach.
Goaltender Logan Thompson explained, "We want to win gold, and we want to ensure we're giving ourselves every advantage."
Team USA, on the other hand, is all about the Olympic spirit, with players like Matthew Tkachuk raving about the village experience, "It's been unbelievable, hanging out with other athletes, playing cards, and watching the Olympians."
But here's the part most people miss: this isn't a new move for the Canadians. In both the 2010 and 2014 Winter Games, the team opted for similar accommodations. As general manager Doug Armstrong puts it, "This has sort of taken on a life of its own. It's no different from our previous tournaments. We just want our players to be in their comfort zone as they prepare."
